In memory of Leon Talabi

Leon Talabi passed away on 18th July 2023 after battling Renal Medullary Carcinoma (RMC). The Ricky Casey Trust had been supporting Leon through his treatment, and he had been featured alongside the Trust in a Granada Reports story at the end of 2022.

Trust founder Nicola Casey said: “We said a final goodbye to Leon yesterday. I visited Leon in hospital days before he passed and, as always, his spirits were inspirational and in so many ways like Ricky. I'm truly heartbroken that unfortunately RMC has taken another young man.”

“To see the love and the lives he touched was special, including ours. Leon showed his true strength throughout his journey of RMC. I can only now hope this strength will continue for his wife, family and friends during this difficult time.”

“It was an honour to support Leon and his family and I can only wish this was different — but we are only stronger together, and one day we will end this horrible disease.”

“It's not the time we have on this earth that counts, it's what we do while we are on it.”

“Thank you, Leon, for your time.”

The Trust's 30 runners doing the Manchester Half Marathon on 15th October, and our three runners doing the Perth marathon in Australia on 8th October, dedicated their efforts to Leon.
